Headed to Morocco at the end of October (2012(, with kids 4, 6 and 8. Given the kids, we're going with a tour, but want to make sure we're not missing anything. So far it's Marrakech, Atlas, desert...
Also, anything to watch out for travelling there with kids? What are standard tip rates?

hey Carolyn, the destinations you mentioned sounds good,since you'll visit the middle Atlas don't miss to visit the oldest tree in North Africa, it is called Arzgourou,once you are on spot you encounter the wild Apes (monkeys).
concerning the tips rates,here we do not tip by bills percentage as in the states,however we do tip by the quality of the services;at cafes and restaurants your tips could start from 2 to 6 dollars for the whole bill.

Thanks for that, we enjoyed a wonderful trip, and went guided with Maroc Nature -- great guides, lots of hidden villages and gorgeous campsites. Marrakech, down to the south and west, into the desert, the middle Atlas mountains and back to Marrakech. The best thing that we couldn't have known in advance was our guide loved kids -- so the kids were quite well-occupied. They had good enough French to really enjoy it, my husband and I got most of it! Nice to have a guide-book around too. Also ADORED Riad Slitine, where we stayed the last few nights in Marrakech. It was like heaven after desert camping!
