Yeah make sure you or your body guards are armed!!
Why do you say that?
Been there last year. Burkina felt as one of the safest countries I've been to in Africa (after Namibia but in comparison to Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Benin).
However, based on analogue travel advice both on Belgian, French and American Foreign Affairs...we decided to skip North Western Burkina (frontier Mali-Niger) because of border-flooding tensions in that area.
That's a normal precaution you take whenever visiting African countries (check last minute situation).
However, in general Burkina poses no specific security problems whatsoever.
Our route:
Ouaga - Bobo - Banfora (until Ivorian border) - Gaoua.
Individual travel on public transport, hired taxis & rented motorbikes.
All fine.
But ALWAYS check recent security updates. And ALWAYS check different sources. (if you base only on US Foreign Affairs...you stay home)
Thanks for the info.
