I have a week long stay in Cape Verde (Sal island) in February 2005 and I'm looking for any recent hotel suggestions, things to do, and general information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ummm...catch the first flight to Cape Town???
I don't want to discourage you but apart from bathing and sunbathing in the beach you will have nothing to do. I was there a year ago and believe me, I won't go back. Sal has no vegetation at all, it's very poor and a grey deserted island. Sta. Maria is a tiny village with nothing to do and no charm at all. You have no shoping also, tried to bring some souvenirs for my daughter and found nothing.
I stayed at the Morabeza Hotel which is a standard 4 star ( you won't get better than that).Rooms very basic, breakfast is not plenty ,very frugal, though lunch at the beach is good but doesn't offer many options and it's expensive for what you get.
The beach is clean and the ocean has a nice blue colour but nothing else.
I am with Rocco, catch the first flight to cape Town or elsewhere?
