Daughter going to Niger for 10 days

My daughter's NGO is sending her to Niger for ten days. Most of the time she will be with others, but it looks like she will have a weekend in Niamey (capital city) alone. I am judging from the fact that this appears to be the first Niger post ever that not too many of you will have any information to share.

But if anyone has any experiences or advice or suggestions about Niger, we'd love to hear them. Thanks, Laurie
