From Ghana to Ouidah in Benin

I'll be travelling from Accra towards Ouidah in Benin in November. I've been unable to get a visa for Togo before I set off so will be getting one on entry. Has anyone done this? if so how long did it take and what documents were needed? (I've heard of long waiting times--are there any 'short cuts'??)

Also how long will it take to travel across Togo From Lome to the Benin border?
