Morocco/Portugal questions

Our hiking club has planned a great trip in the Algarve next Sept.14 to 21. We have already booked a one-way flight to Lisbon, arriving on Sept. 3 and plan to spend most of the time before the hiking trip in Morocco. We plan to fly to Marrakesh from Lisbon and join a guide (thanks for the excellent recommendations on this board) and tour Morocco for about 10 days. We are thinking of ending up in Tangier and taking the ferry over to Spain or Portugal if possible. The hiking group is meeting in Faro. How does this sound so far? We prefer to spend a few nights in each place (Marrakesh, the Atlas Mts, Fez and Tangier for instance).

I know it's a bit early, but I love the planning part. Does anyone know of a flight from Faro to New York? I cannot find one, may have to go back to Lisbon.
