Going to be on safari for 5 nights at the beginning of July 2013. The plan is to stay at Lion Sands for 3 nights and Timbavati for 2 nights. Would you recommend the Ngala tent camp or the Ngala safari lodge?

Ngala Tented. But will cost more.
I was at Ngala Lodge for eight nights in Sep 2008. Every, every, game drive we went down to the Ngala Tented area. A big waste of an hour each game. If you see a map of that area, you will see that Ngala Lodge is on a tiny sliver of property (belonging to &Beyond). And they do not share traversing rights with other (neighboring) Timbavati safari camps. Hence, again, so you go into the Ngala Tented area. But also again, Ngala Tented significantly more $$$.
Two nights at another camp??? I would not, stay Lion Sands for two more nights.

Oh, also, if budget a concern, try working a deal with Lion Sands. Like, stay for 5 nights, pay for 4. (&Beyond camps have similar deals).

2 nights = 1 day.
Too short IMHO to appreciate Timbavati. Why not stay 5 night (4 days) in one place? Seems a but strange to switch camps for just one day of game drives in another (very similar) area.
