NY Times discovers Syria

The New York Times travel section has a piece on Aleppo today: http://travel.nytimes.com/2010/01/24/travel/24next.html?scp=1&sq=aleppo&st=cse and Damascus was one of its "31 Places To Go in 2010" - http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/10/travel/10places.html .

Of course, since the Christmas bomber you may be subject to increased scrutiny on the way back. Even before that, security at Istanbul airport asked me a lot of questions about why I had visited Syria - but just questions.
