South Africa: WEST coast wildflowers in spring: Advice for 6-night visit??

I'm a dreamy poet & writer who loves good food, and my husband is a biologist who is interested in native flora & fauna, including fynbos and wildflowers. We are both looking for inspiration on the west coast region of South Africa in the spring (mid September).

Are you passionate about the west coast in the spring? If so, can you offer any advice? We'd like to spend 6 nights somewhere on the west coast region of South Africa. We have chosen a guest house in Paternoster for 3 nights, and we need to select another base for an additional 3 nights. WHERE ELSE TO STAY IN THE WEST COAST REGION in spring?

Bushman's Kloof wilderness reserve in the Cederberg region? Or somewhere else on the coast maybe, north of Paternoster? Or maybe a farm stay in the region?

Any advice?

We have decided to split our visit to South Africa like this:
6 nights: west coast region of South Africa
6 nights: Cape Town & Cape peninsula
6 nights: Little Karoo or Overberg region or Garden Route

Thank! I have been researching this trip for a couple years, but there is less info available once you get off the beaten path, especially for the west coast region of South Africa.
