We bought non stop tickets sfo-dus for $932 for this July-August.
We just got word that now we'll be stopping in Los Angeles. On paper it doesn't look bad: about 2.5 hours. The actual hours of the flight didn't change that much.
We've had so many bad experiences at LAX. Almost every time we've had a layover there has been a mess.
This is also the second time a cross-atlantic nonstop has been changed to a stop in Los Angeles! I guess I should just expect it from now on.
So, should I be really upset by this? Or just calm down? Don't think I can beat that price.

I seriously doubt it is a one-stop flight. Rather, they are putting you on probably AA to LAX. You will need to walk over from T4 to TBIT and reclear security. Same issue at ORD since the new ORD-DUD will likely use T5.
I would ask to switch to a JFK connection, since they use AA's Terminal 8.
Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know.
