I've read on flyertalk that the Air France Lounge at LAX isn't the best but not a lot of information why it's not good. Anyone have any recent experience there? If not good - why?

YMMV
Great link! Thanks. I found your posts on getting to Moorea great too since we're headed to Tahiti. Unfortunately not flying business class (premium economy for us). We're spending 2 nights on Moorea and then 2 nights in PPT before catching a cruise. Enjoyed your posts!
I quite liked the Air France lounge -- found in terminal 2, I think. Unfortunately, when taking the new AF jet to Paris this summer, we had to go to the Tom Bradley terminal. And in that terminal, AF shared space in the Korean Air lounge. Meh.
My favorite at LAX was Air New Zealand's lounge -- now THAT was some great lounge!
Sufergirl - thanks for the input. Our flight leaves out of Terminal 2 (so it says) and I think we are going to go ahead and get a day pass. We have a pretty lengthy (8 hours) layover and might as well try to be somewhat comfortable. Coming back no long layover so not an issue.
AF's A380 uses TBIT (Korean Air Lounge), while the other flights use T2 (AF/KLM Lounge). With 8 hours, I suggest taking a taxi out to Manhattan Beach for a stroll.
