We will be using UA FF tickets to fly IAD to BKK. If I buy a tix now online and want to get a later flight with the same city pairs will I be able to change the ticket online? I see availability for IAD to Frankfurt (UA) to BKK. I would like to get a later UA flight from IAD to Frankfurt. they are both on UA. If the later flight from IAD to Frankfurt shows up in the award tickets can I make the change online without calling UA? Thanks?

I needed to change my UA FF ticket from a connection to a non-stop a couple months ago. I do believe you will need to call and you would not be able to DIY on-line. I was lucky and in my case there was no fee to make the change. I am not sure how that will be with flights with a time difference. I suggest you call them in advance of booking if you want to know before you are locked in.
You can change date/time without a fee. I had an award ticket for HKT-BKK-DEL and wanted to move it up a day. Found what I wanted in the award search but when I went to do the online change that option was not the list (there were several HKT-BKK options, just not the one I wanted). I called to get what I wanted.
