I have travelled first and business with Qatar through Doha 2 years ago. I would recommend them highly. I do not recall the exact details of the meal but we were very happy with the food and drink service in both classes. I would of eaten a western style meal.
The service was fabulous, including being offered pj's for a night flight. The staff had quite a lot to deal with on some of the legs and managed well. One male passenger in first refused to put his chair up during take off, despite the pleadings of the 2 women with him and the flight attendant.
On arrival we were picked up at the plane by either the designated first class bus which had about 8 large recliner seats and polished timber or a slightly less glamorous business class bus. On departure the bus waited until the last moment to depart from the terminal. The entrance at the front of the plane was covered by an awning and we waited on the air conditioned bus until all the economy passengers, standing in the full sun had boarded. They really look after their premium passengers.
The first and business lounge were great. I don't recall eating in the business lounge but have never paid for a meal at Doha. The first class lounge from memory had a buffet and food to order. During Ramadan there was alcohol available in the lounges.
Sometimes I have had a long connection in the business lounge and there are not beds in the business lounge, unless things have changed with the new terminal. During an early arrival in Doha I asked one of the staff in the business lounge if they could help me with a blanked. I looked in my purse and unfortuantely I hardly had any cash. I offered him about US20 and off he scurried and returned with pillows and blankets. He proceeded to turn the sofas around and coffee tables around to make a private and comfortable area for us to lie down.
I would fly with them again in an instant and highly recommend them.
I did not pay a cent for food on the plane or in the lounge.
Thanks a lot for your help.Looking forward to flying with them
