My DH thinks he read that one does NOT have to remove shoes when going through Airport Security if one is older than 65. He thinks it is a new ruling. Does anyone know if this is accurate for International Flights ?
Shoe removal after age 65 ?

It's 75 and it is not in effect yet
75, not 65. Also no shoe removal if you're approved for PreCheck and you're flying on a participating airline & airport.
Avalon, it is in effect as of now. I flew on the 23rd and the guy at security was calling out -if you are over 75 you can leave your shoes on.
This was at IAD in DC.
Thank you both. WHEN will it go into effect - if you know ?
Thank you, Martha. Our posts crossed.
I heard the over 75 exclusion last week, so I assume it is in effect. Not sure I approve of the exclusion, but it looks to be in effect.
It was in effect at least back in July, when I flew PHX-ORD-PHX with my mother. There were signs about it in the security checkpoint areas and she was able to go through without removing her shoes.
It was in effect when we flew on Dec 23.
This procedure started initial testing in August, 2011 as per TSA.gov
It was in effect in September when I flew to London and back from Paris.
