hello you all experts on Myanmar..
i am planning to visit myanmar and tour around with a friend for 17 days in january..
i am also hopping to remain on my own for another week and just see what else i can explore but remain kind of local near by yangon area...
i understand that hotels in yangon are pricy nowadays , however i also know that out of yangon city, the rates could be as low as 25 dollars a nite..
i would so appreciate your feedback, and am open to hear any of your sound and informative suggestions...
thank you

Personally, I wouldn't choose to stay close to Yangon for my additional time in Yangon. Do you have the LP guidebook? Browse the book and see where you'd like to explore. There is really no reason to restrict yourself to the Yangon area. You will find budget options in the $25-30 range in many places.
thank you Kathie for your quick response..
i failed to mention that i would be on the road touring in Myanmar for close to 3 weeks and i also plan to be in BKK for a couple of weeks before then..
having said that i was thinking more of a vegging stop if you know what i mean...
just may be go browse away in a market or the like..
also walk and get in touch with nature..
may be find a place to do some yoga or taiji..hmm
i think you get the picture..
thank you again ..

not sure burma is the right place to vedge... better in thailand
There are a couple of beaches on Burma, if that is what you are looking for. You'll have to see if you can get accommodations, as they may well be booked full, and of course, the prices are higher at the beach.
Frankly, I could choose any of the palces I visited in Burma to slow down and soak up the atmosphere. What about Sagaing outside of Mandalay? It has a wonderful vibe, a place full of monasteries and nunneries. I think there are only a couple of places to stay there, but I think it would be worth checking it out.
thanks Kathie...
i will look into Sagaing and see the possibilities...mandalay is on the tour itinerary, so i will have a good idea if thats the right energy for that extra week..
by then, i will surely be on a lower budget, so i will have to settle being away from a beach !
best
