We have a short night at Changi between arriving from the US after midnight and flying to Java about 7 am and are considering the Crowne Plaza as an alternative to the Ambassador transit rooms. Is the Crowne Plaza airside or do we pass through immigration and customs to get to it? Any comments appreciated.
I'm not sure we can check our luggage all the way through to Solo, as the SIN - SOC flight is on Silk Air.

I am fairly certain it is outside immigration Kathie(or it seemed to be when I passed it earlier this evening) who is your US flight with?
Kathie, you have to go through immigration and customs but very easy to get to. Its a heck of a lot nicer than the transit rooms but if your flight to Java actually leaves at 7, its probably not worth it. If you do decide to stay at the CP, use the Intercontinental "friends and family" code and save some bucks...
Thanks to both of you. We fly in on United. Your question, Craig, prompted me to look at our tickets. The Silk Air flight actually leaves at 7:55, so not quite as bad as I thought. I do have the frinds and family link, and the prices there are MUCH better than agoda's, though still pricey for a few hours.
