Hi, You folks have been so helpful that I will ask another question. Where is a good place in Bangkok to buy dvds of the most current series on USA television? Again, many thanks for your responses.

Several times we have bought DVD,CD, and WII game discs in Asia (mostly in Thialand) and they are NOT compatible with American machines. We even bought a "converter"disc for the WIi and it did not work. The formatting is different here. Even the son in laws, who are way more technically savvy than us could not get them to work. Big waste of money.
pantip is a major shopping mall with tons of DVD's... as my wife notes above, we had trouble with Wii discs we bought..
dirt cheap btw..
Note that what you buy in Panthip are pirated discs. That's why the quality is so bad, and it's illegal. The pirating industry has been linked to all sorts of other activities, like the drug trade and human trafficking. Whether that's true, or just scare tactics, I don't know, but I prefer to buy legitimate videos. As far as current series, etc. don't expect to find too much in the legal shops around town. Thais tend to like the action/cop shows, so it's hard to find much beyond CSI, NCIS and the like.
The 'better' legal shop, IMO, is Boomerang. They have several branches around town in malls, including MBK, Terminal 21 and Central Rama IX.
