We'll be travelling with our 19mo to Tokyo next week. Whilst hubby and I have both been to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka on 3 occasions previously, it was before we had a little one so we did not look at the baby-friendly aspects of things. We love eating and think that places like Sushi Bun in Tsukiji, Kyushu Jangara, Ichiran and the izakayas on Yakitori St would no longer be feasible with a toddler in tow, as we remember those places being quite small and there were no baby chairs. Our toddler is also very active so we are planning some days out at the parks.
Any recommendations on baby-friendly sights (suitable for a toddler; most we found online were for older kids) and also good places to eat? We've found some online but noted that most of them did not have fantastic ratings on food (and we prefer Japanese food only, seeing as we are in Japan!).
Thanks in advance!

Japanese love babies, so except for very high end place, or very busy counter type places, you will be welcomed warmly. The high chair thing might be a problem, so I'd look for places with booths. We took our kids to Japan when they were tiny, and were often surprised how accomodating the restaurants were towards us.
As far as activities, we were big fans of wandering the colorful parks and neighborhoods. The toy sections in department stores usually have a kids play area, and there are lots of parks.
The boat ride along the Sumida river (from the Asakusa docks to the big Japanese gardens near Tsukiji Fish market) might be fun.I wouldn't recommend taking the child into the fish market itself, as it really isn't safe wtih all the workers buzzing around in their carts and trucks. Asakusa Kannon is always fun and colorful walking around the shops and the temple plaza, especially if your little one likes pigeons!

Thanks for the suggestion of the boat ride and Asakusa Kannon. We've not done those before so definitely looking into that!
