Okay, I think I have had too much time to think pre-trip. We are traveling to Bali, with a 12 hour overnight stay in Singapore en route, and then a two-night say at the end of the trip. We had been planning to bring Ambien, but I just read today that it requires pre-authorization, which we did not obtain. That led to further researching and subsequent "freaking out."
So, at this point, we are leaving behind both Ambien and chewing gum...
1. Can we take Advil, Tums, and Benadryl?
2. If so, do we have to use the "red channel" and declare it?
3. Are films legally downloaded onto iPad going to be an issue?
4. If we feel like our luggage has been compromised, are we safe to report that without getting into trouble?
and
5. Am I being silly crazy about this?
Last minute Singapore freak out, help appreciated!

Pack your drugs in your carry-on and walk through the green line. I seriously doubt they are going to cane you for bringing in a reasonable personal amount in the original container, even they did stop you.
You can chew gum in Singapore now. You just can't sell it.
I travel with Ambien all the time. The amount you will have with you should not be a problem. Get a RX for 10-20 tablets and take it in the orginal bottle with your name on it. Just put it in with your other medications and don't make a big deal out of it.
As for your IPad...just treat it like you normally would. Stop worring and enjoy your trip.

You can take all of your OTC medications along, no problem. You can also take chewing gum along. Just don't bring in wholesale quantities to distribute (lol).
Is the problem that your insurance requires pre-authorization to fill your prescriptions or is this a concern about customs? If you are concerned about customs, don't be, just carry it in the original prescription bottle.
BTW - if you have not taken Ambien before, don't try it out for the first time on the airplane.
Thanks for the reassurances! We are in Hong Kong now, waiting for our flight to Singapore. Things have been going well, other than some routine travel delays. We ended up leaving behind the Ambien, but did bring the OTCs. And I am much more relaxed now that we are en route. Sometimes those pre-trip jitters get a little crazy!
