A mini trip report from my trip last week to Macau and Hong Kong and flying with Emirates on their A380 aircraft.
The flight.
All I can say is WOW! After reading Gard's excellent flight review of his trip on the A380 we decided to fly with them to Hong Kong from Bangkok. Here are my notes from the flight:
One big luxurious plane with excellent service and amenities. Lots of drinks, snacks, food etc and showers in the bathroom! No more overhead luggage bin and now you can store all your carry-on by your feet. The flight was so smooth and the aircraft is the quietest I've ever flown in. I only noticed that we landed after feeling the slight bump on touching down. Highly recommend the airline(Emirates) and their A380 flights!
Macau.
After landing in Hong Kong we had dinner in town with friends before taking the TurboJet ferry to Macau. The ferry ride was at night and very smooth once we got going but I prefer the New World First Ferry Service which service the Kowloon - Macau route.
We stayed at the MGM Grand, my 3rd time at this hotel, in their Grand Deluxe Suite. The room had 2 bedrooms, a dining room with attached kitchenette, a living room and guest bathroom. Very nice and probably, of all the hotels, one of the nicest suite in Macau.
This weather was perfect during our visit and being in Macau during the weekdays helped us avoid the large crowds from China and Hong Kong who normally travel to Macau for the weekend.
Excellent time in Macau, good food, lucky at the tables and beautiful weather.
Hong Kong.
An overnight stay before flying back home and we chose the W Hotel in Kowloon. The hotel is situated in a building complex with the "Elements" mall and the Airport Express station(Kowloon). Nice hotel with excellent beds!
