We will be travelling to Macau for a few days at the end of this month ... going from Shenzhen to Macau and then from Macau to Hong Kong. How far in advance should we buying tickets?

I've only gone from Hong Kong to Macau and back, but bought tickets the same day. I suppose if you were going on a holiday you might want to get tickets in advance.
Is it less expensive to buy tickets early ... or the same as buying on the day of travel?
