Some of you may have heard about the Ponheary Ly Foundation in Cambodia and read the trip reports of Fodorites who go there to volunteer. You may have wondered what it was all about.
Well now you can hear CNN Hero, Ponheary, and our own Fodorite, Lori Carlson, speak, and you don't have to go to Cambodia!!

They will also be speaking in Washington DC and Austin, Texas. Exact dates are here: http://theplf.org/wp/2013/01/ponhearys-headed-to-the-u-s/
Caution: May change your life!
Ponheary Ly and Lori Carlson are coming to NYC, D.C and Austin!

Thanks, Lcuy. The FB link isn't working, but I found the info on the plf page. Sadly, I'm going to be out of town when they're in LA.
I wish that they were coming to Boston!
Best wishes to Ponheary and Lori for a successful trip.
And I also found the FB link not working, but got the info from the plf page. Unfortunately, I'm busy the night they are in NYC.
I was not familiar with her and the work done by the foundation until I read about it here, so I'm very appreciative of that and hope to get a chance to hear them at another time!
Ah, thanks for posting this Lucy~!
We are super excited.
Ponheary just got back from Phnom Penh to buy us some coats. We land in NYC March 1. Brrrrr~!
Maybe I can get Ponheary to write a trip report. That would be pretty funny, all things given.
xx Lori
It would be fun for us to read her trip report. be sure to link it to the Asia site.
She is laughing all morning about the idea. "Cambodian Tour Guide's Impressions of the US" Stay tuned.
I love the idea!
Waiting to read Ponheary's trip report!
Whee, when in NYC??? I will come and try to get others to join me.
I'm sorry the Facebook link won't work.
The speech is at the New School next Tuesday:
March 5,
6-8 PM,
Wollman Hall , 5th Floor.
65 W. 11th Street
NY, NY
And both my daughters will be there! Look for the two somewhat Asian looking sisters; one tall one and the other about the size of Ponheary. Tell them their mommy loves them!

I would LOVE to read a Ponheary Ly trip report!
We are on our way back from Belize. Otherwise I'd be there to see her in NYC on Tuesday.
Is Ponheary speaking in Wash, DC? The links don't seem to give any info or possibility of RSVPing an event in DC and only says P will speak in Austin and NYC - though mention is made of March dates in DC.
It is tonight. Calling all NYC people to come.
Ponheary and Lori gave amazing presentations to a standing room audience this evening. I thought I knew what splendid work they were doing but I did not know the half of it. I hope anyone in or near DC or Austin will go to hear them. But all of us can make a donation thru the plf.org website. Every penny we give gets directly used to send kids to school who otherwise would never get a chance to a life with a foundation of literacy. This Fodors community can help Ponheary and Lori continue to make a difference.
My daughters were there, and also said it was a great crowd! On to DC!
Glad NY went well - would still be interested in knowing if if, when, and where they're presenting in DC. . .
Do you know if they're going to podcast the event?
