I'm writing this entry because I appreciate guide suggestions from travelers. My husband and I recommend Angkor Journeys' Kanha Roth for private guide services in Siem Reap. She speaks excellent English, responded very quickly to my emails requesting information, helped us choose a hotel, Steung Siem Reap Hotel, that was quiet, but close to the old market area, arranged a good car and driver, was always on time, and helped us avoid the crowds at the temples. With her help we had a wonderful visit in Siem Reap. http://www.angkorjourneys.com/Menu.aspx?Cat=15&Menu=about%20us.html

Thanks, Marg, for your suggestion. We'll be going to Siem Reap next November. Were you happy with the hotel she suggested? Which tour did you take with her?

Janet-
We didn’t go out with Kanha Roth but if this is your first trip there, I’m sure you’ll want to include a tour of the Central Angkor temples, which include Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat.
On another day I would suggest you do what Angkor Journeys is calling “Banteay Srei and Ta Prohm”. Ta Prohm temple features lots of trees growing on top of and out of the stone ruins. This is the site prominently featured in the Lara Croft, Tomb Raider movie. That one is very interesting but for my money, the real star in this group is the exquisite Banteay Srei temple; referred to as the “Citadel of the Women”. With some of the most intricate and pleasing carvings found in all of Cambodia, the glow coming off its pink sandstone is an inspiring sight. In addition to the lovely detailed carvings are some beautiful figures of monkey warrior guards side by side with human guards. If you only visit one temple outside of the central Angkor complex, this is the one.
IMHO, if given the option of visiting additional temples or going on a tour of Tonle Sap floating village, give the lake a pass
See our trip reports including a link to video at: http://www.se-asiatravel.com/cambodia/angkor-wat-temple-complex/ for the Central area and http://www.se-asiatravel.com/cambodia/outer-angkor-temples/ for the temples outside of the city.
Thanks, mediakzar, for your suggestions and the videos. We can't wait to go there!
