After a long day's travel from Nuwara Eliya via Ella, it was so pleasing to step inside and have the glorious beach view assail us - heavenly! It's a bit off the beaten-track but that's the attraction - no horldes of tourists, tacky stalls, advertising - this is the real-deal beach with hardly a soul walking about. The sleepy fishing beach around the rocks is busy early in the morning and then you strip, bake, swim, eat and do it all again.

We had the Flatback turtle room upstairs - great corner location with small balcony and lovely fittings throughout. There is lovely aesthetic evident throughout the property and with only 7 rooms, it is a v-e-r-y r-e-l-a-x-i-n-g place. Shower was the best we found during our holiday. Wifi did not work in the room - only in the dining area/pool surrounds. Food was excellent, particularly the lobster (crayfish??) dinner...yum yum! Service, though, is v-e-r-y s-l-o-w so be patient, very patient! They are a very friendly bunch, though.

A morning trip to Mulkirigala temple for the fabulous paintings (think Dambulla) was great as was an afternoon cruise in the Kalamatiya Bird Sanctuary, next door. Get down to the fishing boats and talk to the locals!

We hired a driver from Colombo - Millenium Elephant Foundation - Dambulla - Sigiriya - Nuwara Eliya - Tangalle - Colombo and it made for a hassle-free holiday.
