Has any one sent a wire transfer to Bhutan? Is it safe to do it? Our tour operator said that we need to wire the money to their account in Bhutan.

It is common to pay Asian tour companies via wire transfer.
Yes we did it a couple of years ago. As Kathie said this is normal. Actually if I am remembering correctly the company you book with don't actually get your money until the trip is complete. Even though it goes to their account it is somehow held over until you have finished your trip.
