We are planning a belated honeymoon and would love to stay in a hut over the water - however we'd rather not break the bank. We'll go anywhere, and rustic but clean is fine. (We'd even travel to another part of the world.) Any suggestions on places to stay?
Thanks so much!

No technically "over" the water, but still very romantic is Relais Josephine on the island of Rangaroa, FP. The huts front on Taputa Pass, where you will see spinner dolphins playing in the changing tides. Food is wonderful. Sitting on the deck over the water is very sexy.

You could try the Club Bali Hai on Moorea. They were the first hotel in the world to offer overwater bungalows (I believe 1968). It's in an absolutely stunning location, though the rooms (at least from the exterior) look more rustic than luxurious. They are rather inexpensive for OWBs- something like $350 US/night.

I was also going to suggest 9 Beaches in Bermuda, but it looks like they are being renovated until summer 2012.
Belize or the San Blas Islands off Panama
It would help if you told us "how strong your bank is" so we know what will break it and what might not - knowing what your actual dollar budget is will make it easier for people to steer you in the right direction.
