I am going to Singapore from cold Canada in late December this year and am looking to take take my wife to a tropical island type resort for a week. I am looking for a 4 star or equivalent with waterfront or beachfront "Hut" or "Bure" type accomodations.
I understand that this may be moonsoon season or a rainy time. Any suggestions or recommendations where to go arounf the Singapore area?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Dave,
Try looking at weatherplanner.com which will give you the weather for that time period any where you are planning to go.
As far as a bure or hut I think you have the wrong island.
Singapore is ALL high rise - you won't find what you're looking for there. However having said that you can catch a short flight or high speed catamaran to Tioman island where there are a number of upmarket resorts that may be what you are after. it is monsoon time and it will be very wet no matter where you are in the area.
my personal recommendation is not to be in singapore at this time of year. if you can change your itinerary slightly then thailand, malaysia or indonesia are a better bet. I can't remember the seasons but they alternate on the east and west coast of thailand so that when it's raining on the west it's sunny on the east and vice versa. that way you could choose between somewhere like koh samui on the east and krabi on the west.
I use the following site:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/weather/historical/historical.htm
It gives month by month average highs and lows, with average rainfall. It's really helpful if you are planning a trip. Plus they have a weather history for just about everywhere.
