My husband and I are on a round the world trip and have 7 days planned in New Caledonia in February.
We plan to have a couple of nights in Noumea but are at a loss as to which other islands to visit.
We are looking for quiet, picture postcard beaches but also like having a couple of options for eating out within reach. The isle of pines looks gorgeous but I have also heard it is quite developed. We don't want to be in or near big resorts. We also love snorkelling and scuba diving.
Should we consider the loyalty islands instead and if so which ones? We are on a bit if a budget and will be travelling via ferry rather than flying.
Will be really missing out if we don't do the north east of grand terre ie Highengene?
Any other advice greatly appreciated!
New Caledonia - which island(s)?
