We are going to Samoa Oct 19th to stay at Coconuts Beach Club in an overwater fale. Anyone been here? Lately? Or have any hints on do's/don'ts for Western Samoa? Places not to miss? Sure would appreciate any info. Thanks.

hi Peggy,
I don't have a direct comment about your message, but in Apia, the capital, stay away from the Samoan Outrigger Hotel. The manager, Claus Hermansen, is an irresponsible, thoughtless, heartless individual. He had left the hotel the day I was due to depart with all my documents locked in the safe. It cost me nearly US$1000 to get home and he has only pledged to repay me about%50 of the damage. More than that, he refuses to accept responsibility, even blamed it all on others, including me.
There are other great places to stay there. Please advise other travelers there of my story. I would be grateful.
Otherwise, the place is DELIGHTFUL. Go to Namu'a Island, off the southeast coast. you'll love it.
have fun!!!!

Hiya Peggy my mate from the UK got married in NZ and had her honeymoon in Samoa she speaks highly of the culture sights and stayed at Coconuts Beach club however spent alot of her time around the corner at Sinalei which she also highly recomends as well, best of luck I'm off to Samoa in Oct as well and will post a few questions as well.
Hi
We've stayed at Coconuts twice--April of 2001 and April of 1999. Since we were returning "nuts" we received 20% off our room plus an upgrade. Stayed in the tree house units and had plenty of gheko company for 11 days. Had planned on a week but Agie Grey's flooded out and fortunately reclaimed our old room.
We go there because my godfather was born in the Islands of a Samoan mother and German father. Still a lot of Schwenkes there.
Great pool, ocean swimming. Mica's food is great but a bit expensive. Ate some meals at the next door Sinali Beach Resort. Will probably return in 2004 and split our visit between Coconuts and Agie's
Don't expect Holiday Inn fascillities but clean and friendly. Free fire dances each week by the employees.
Getting there via Pago (pronounced pango) is the tough part because the manditory stay (due to flight times) is a bummer. Am Samoa is b-a-d. Maybe the govt wil sell the Rainmaker and turn it around. Tessaria Viatonga is an alternative.
Glad to answer specific questions
Ron
