We are avid snorkelers and want to know if there are firms that take out a few people other than just ourselves, so we do not have to make it a private charter, to many of the reef areas within 1+ hour of the mainland. We know they do an outing to Jellyfish Lake but we much prefer areas with a wide variiety of hard and soft corals and numerous fish species. We would be coming from NY and stay for 8 or 9 days and want to go out each day to different reef destiinations but NOT on dive boats. Is this practical and if so what firm did you use that you were satisfied with? Thanks.

I was there about two years ago with a small cruise ship. They arranged for those interested to go out snorkeling on small boats and we were with people not all from the cruise ship. The boats held about 10 people and had a roof for shade. Saw plenty of the same type boats out and about. I cannot say for sure but from my experience I would say no problem. They took us to different places but can't tell you how many they go to in all.

Good local link am a NAUI/PADI Scuba Intructor
Blue Lagoon Resort good in this area SCUBA/snorkel not cheap.
Independent snorkel usually arranged boots on the ground
with knowledgeable locals.
Personally for off the beach snorkel from NY might consider
maho.org St John
anthonyskey.com Roatan
robertsgrove.com Belize
xel-ha.com Tulum
Better closer for snorkel.
qw3ovadis; Having done the places you suggested multiple times we expanded to Asia (Bunaken,Sulawisi,Simillans, Redangs,Prehentians,Banda and Lizard Island. So we are running out of places. Further we do not enjoy off-the- beach snorkeling and it does noot give us the opportunity to do free diving down to 15-18 ft. But I will contact the Blue Lagoon. We were going to stay at the Pacific Island Resort if we could pin down for sure a daily snorkeling program in Palau.
