My husband and I are moving to New Zealand for a year in July and have planned a Fiji stopover for a week prior to arriving in our final destination. On both ends of our flight, we have long layovers in the Nadi airport (we'll be spending our trip on Tavenui). We'll have 9 hours in between flights in each direction.
I know that we can pay to use the Air Pacific lounge (which, after our long flight from Boston, we'll probably do to take advantage of the showers at least). What else to do with our time?

AlishaAAM, since no one else has responded to your post, I'll share what we experienced there. The Fiji Airport doesn't have much in the way of "services". But very near the airport is a Fijian town (I think it's Nadi) which has a lot of stores, little restaurants, etc. We passed it on our way to the airport from Sigatoga. Also, connected by causeway to the main road, about 6 or so miles, is a purpose-built tourist area (Denarau) where there are nice hotels, restaurants, shopping area, etc. If we had the amount of time you have in between flights, we'd probably use taxis to explore these areas.
There are probably Fodorites who are a lot more familiar with the area than we are and who may have more specific suggestions. But before we went to Fiji in early March, we experienced that there aren't that many posters on the Fiji site.
Good luck in your travel ventures.
