Hello-our trip planning to Quebec City the last week of March is coming along but I am getting a little nervous about how much snow & ice we might encounter on the roads north of QC. We had hoped to drive up to the Charlevoix region and maybe Baie Saint-Paul. Does anyone have any experience in those areas at that time of year?
Thanks in advance for your insight!

The Quebec government requires vehicles to use snow tires until March 15. Some of them even are studded tires. That means the chances of a blizzard when you will be there are much diminished. But nothing is impossible in Canadian winters. I live much further south, in another province, but I have seen snow on the spring flowers. Here is the government info on tires: http://www.mtq.gouv.qc.ca/portal/page/portal/grand_public_en/vehicules_promenade/securite_routiere/securite_conditions_hivernales/reglement_utilisation_pneus_hiver#mandatory
March in Quebec City is still full-on Winter. Tradition has it that the last big blizzard of the season is around St-Patrick's day (march 17). I grew up there and there was sometimes still snow on the ground in early May. The roads are well cleared though. Are you used to winter driving?
A
Thanks to the two of you! Okaaay-maybe we need to rethink Quebec City and try for somewhere farther south as we are from the Atlanta, Georgia area-hence we know NOTHING about driving in winter weather.
Well, how is the weather in Toronto the last part of March? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
