We plan to spend about 15 - 20 days to familiarize ourselves with BC and Vancouver.
The best choice for us would be in Feb / March but we need to know if the roads are fine and accommodations are available along the way.
We would be renting a vehicle car or RV.
Both my wife and I love to take photos so we would be making many stops along the way.
There is no rush or date actually as we are retired and could travel later if required.
I am a Canadian and my wife Tina, is a US citizen & loves Canada. We live in San Diego but have business about one day in Vancouver so the remainder is open.
Yes we are seniors, but still very active fortunately and we wish to experience this great area of Canada.
If we may have some advice from those that know the area it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Drive from Vancouver to Calgary and back via alternate scenic roads.

Feb/Mar roads ...a crap shoot..Back roads are basically non-existant in this locale and would be very iffy if you did find and venture on them..are youo an experienced winter mountain driver??You have #3..2 lane and twisty..#1 4 lane divided but not all the way (Banff Nat. Park). Coacahalla (sp) winter conditions during you time frame and they can be severe..Later would be better, Between snow, blowing snow, avalanches and/or mud slides you would be better off waiting for this spectacular drive
agree...if your time is flexible...i'd try to aim for june-october...september, october being my favorite times. driving in the winter/spring months can be fine as long as you keep your days flexible. because if a snow storm happens, you want to be able to just stay put for a day while the storm passes and they clear the highways. you also should consider that during the summer, the daylight hours are long. in february, you are looking at shorter times for safe driving. 15-20 days is a good amount of time to focus on bc. a little longer would be better if you want to explore the islands off the coast.
RVing is not really an option in February/March. There are not very many campgrounds open. I'm not sure if any rentals are available, but once you leave the lower mainland (Vancouver area), with night time temps below freezing, unless you have a winterized unit, you could sleep in it but you wouldn't be able to use any of the tanks or water lines.
