Will be traveling around NS in August for 7 nights and staying in Halifax, Igonish Beach, and Baddack. Would welcome suggestions of places to eat (lunch and/or dinner) in or around these areas. Our tastes are pretty eclectic so any cuisine is welcome. Don't like "fine" dining and prefer casual atmosphere/attire.

I can't make any suggestions for the Cape Breton spots but for Halifax, I like:
- Jane's on the Common (small menu but emphasis on fresh, seasonal and local fare)
- The Wooden Monkey (in the downtown area, again local emphasis but also lots of vegetarian options)
- Il Mercato (Italian, downtown)
- Old Triangle (Irish Pub but quite good pub-grub and lots of options, downtown area)
- Henry House (another pub but good food, nice atmosphere, especially the basement pub).
Enjoy your visit!
Appreciate the response NS_Crowgirl. Looking forward to August.
I second the suggestion of Janes on the Common in Halifax. As well we recently enjoyed The Brooklyn Warehouse in Halifax-local, delicious food. For breakfast in Halifax I have never had a more decadent but amazing breakfast than at a tiny spot called Coastal Coffee-very very good.
Near Margaree we came upon the Dancing Goat-great Sandwich spot (or good for breakfast as well.
Also very much enjoy The Red Shoe Pub in Mabou and the pub at the Glenora Distillery as well.
