Planning on possibly going to NL in Sept/Oct.. Due to finances we can only stay where have points, which would be St Johns. Is there enough to do. light hiking, scenery, music etc, to warrant traveling from Florida to St. Johns for a week? ( We do not mind fairly long day trips)
Thank you
Week in St Johns NL

Yes, absolutely there is enough to do. The second time we went, we stayed in one spot just south of the city, and still didn't do everything we wanted. The East Coast Trail has many nice segments you could do. You can tour the Avalon Peninsula, go north from St. John's and tour that area aound Pouch Cove. Take the whale watching boat tour from Whitless Bay/ Bay Bulls area.
You can hike up through the Battery to Signal Hill... a wonderful hike.
YOU can go down to the bottom of the Avalon Peninsula and drive out to Cape Race ( although I have to say , it's the most deserted road I've ever been on !)
SO, YES, I think a week in the St John's area would be great.
Oh, and book your car rental early.
