We hope to visit the Yukon in 2007, but can't decide whether to go in early June or around Labour Day. We plan to be there for 2 weeks, and will likely rent an RV. Our main interests are hiking, wildlife viewing and photography.
If we were to go in the first 2 weeks of June, how bad would the mosquitos be at that time? Black flies? Other? Same questions for the first 2 weeks of September? How good would the wildlife viewing be at either time? My main concern is that if the bugs are bad, we wouldn't be able to hike, which we would want to do everyday.
Any other tips or suggestions? Thanks.
When to go to the Yukon?

We have visited the Yukon in July and September.
I prefere September traveling, but you should be prepared for the first snow during this time of the year.
We had some mosquitos in July, but they did not cause nay problems. I never saw a black fly in July and September.
Wildlife viewing is dependend for which wildlife yo are looking for. The government of Yukon has published a free of charge guide for willife viewing.

We saw during our trips less wildlife than on other trips towards Alaska and British Columbia, but the nature was still very impressive. You can easily combine the Yukon trip with an Alaska visit. You can view bears end of August/beginning of September in Haines (Alaska) and Hyder (Alaska).
