Hope someone can provide info re shuttle availability or taxi (time/cost). Staying at The York, Donald & York streets (also be interested in any comments on the hotel, about the only thing that comes up for a P'line 3*).
Thanks!

Not a long trip from airport to downtown. 20 minute cab ride.
I used to do this once a month, or more, except when people I worked with picked me up and then drove me the long way, through beautiful rsidential areas, telling me house prices. (half of where I lived)
Out of touch on the current taxi fares.
BAK
The reason you can't find much about the York Hotel is that it used to be the Sheraton.
I've stayed there several times, but years ago. Fine hotel then.
Decent location, depending on what you want to do. I found it within walking distance of Tony Roma's rib restaurant. Which was my favorite eat-by-myself Winnipeg restaurant.
If you are going soon, be aware that the sun stays up late in Winnipeg, so you can do touristy things in the evening.
Thanks, BAK. It is "soon" - we'll be there in two weeks and a day!
I would think taxi would be about $25-$30.
The stretch limosines aren't much more ($30-$40)than the taxi's if you want to ride in style or if no taxi is available. We use Paris Limos. You can just walk up to one that's parked outside the airport. Those limo drivers are great, some come right in and carry your luggage out for you.
We feel like movie stars when they do that.
Just thought I'd add a timely report - our taxi ride from the airport to the York ran just about $20, with tip. Unfortunately, it's a trip I had to make three times, since I had to add a r/t in order to retrieve the luggage United didn't send along with us the first time-round. And too tight a schedule to wait on their delivery service.
The York was fine. Based on the floor diagram, P'line customers apparently get a smallish room but it was well-furnished; decent bath. And they were very accommodating: extending our checkout time (because of the luggage debacle) and erasing the stated phone charges for all our many, harried phone calls tracking down the luggage.
