Driving will be very easy except for ONE part. I don't know where they are currently working, but onbe section of that highway is always being up-graded every summer.
The bugs are worst on the ferry landing, but if you have bug shirts bring them. Outside of Yellowknife, you'lkl be gald to have them.
Do make sure to go down around the harbour where the float planes come in. Hang around; talk to the guys getting off (propestors for diamonds when I was there); they are usually friendly and have great stories. Offer to buy them a drink, and you might have a memorable 'chat'.
