Advice for Puerto Rico 4 day vacation hotel locale

I've heard numerous recommendations for locations to stay in Puerto Rico and wondering if anyone else can add to the dialogue. Old San Juan? Condado? Elsewhere?

We can't "add to the dialogue" without input from you - dialogue implies a two way conversation - you've given us no real information. Help us help you.

So, tell us when you are traveling, what you'd like to do/see while there and give us an idea of your actual dollar budget?

Do you want to stay "in town or do you prefer a more remote location?

Will you be renting a car or relying on public transportation and/or just walking?

Tell us too, what you've already heard and what recommendations you've already gotten so we don't end up telling you what you already know.
