From all your other posts you seem to be really struggling with the color of the sand and water on the beaches of St. Kitts. Quite honestly, if you are looking for blinding sugar white beaches and bright torquoise waters you will be disappointed with the beaches and water on St. Kitts (and Nevis).

The sand at Turtle Beach can best be described as being light grey. The pictures you saw (assuming you are referring to the ones on the link posted in response to one of your previous questions) were taken in conditions when the sun reflected off of the sand making it appear whiter than it actually is. The water off the beach will have an aqua marine tint close to shore and it will become a darker steelblue as the water depth increases. Turtle Beach has some of the "lightest color" sand on St. Kitts but it is not true white.

The beaches on Nevis are for the most part brownish in color. Nisbet Beach is a veery light grey (similar to the sand on Turtle Beach, St. Kitts) but here again, it is not "sugar white". The water off of Nisbet is not bright torquoise either and because it is on the Atlantic side it can be a bit wavy, at times. Oualie Beach (on Nevis) also has light grey sand and aqua marine colored water.

I don't mean to spoil your plans but if white sand and bright torquoise waters are important you should look at coral/limestone based islands like Anguilla, Aruba, Barbuda, Curacao, Bonaire, Anegada, the Turks & Caicos, Grand Cayman and many of the Bahamas Out Islands.

To answer your other questions, on St. Kitts beaches that have beach bars and lounge chairs include South Frigate Bay, South Friars Bay and Cockelshell Beach. By the way Turtle Beach has cabanas and other facilities only for those people staying at one of their villas. There is a very upscale (read expensive) restaurant on that beach.

While the beaches on St. Kitts are not very crowded you can expect to find more people on those stretches of beach where rental lounges and bars are available since that's here most people want to go.

On Nevis, you can find beach bars and rental chairs along parts of Pinney's Beach (south of the Four Season's Resort) but you should know the sand there is definitely not "white". On the plus side even in high season the beach there is never very crowded. The aforementioned Oualie Beach allows non-guests to use it's facilities and they have a restaurant/bar there also. On weekends there's a man who rents lounge chairs just north of Nisbet Beach and you can dine or get drinks at Nisbet's Beach Bar but the food and drinks there are not cheap.

Yes Roamsaround, you are right! I AM STRUGGLING with beaches! I wanted to go to one of those islands that you mentioned, just for the beaches, but I think my 6 day trip would get too hectic with travelling from on island to another, so that's why I am trying to find the best beach on St. Kitts because it has a lot of other good things to do. I also got steared away from other islands because of the bad reviews of the hotels there, I mean many bad reviews on cleanliness and bad food, and also crime! I really appreciate all of the info in your post. Thank you!

If the light colored sand is important to you AND you want to go to St. Kitts, you should also consider Cockleshell Beach, which had the lightest sand & water color of our various beach visits. And even though S. Friars (NOT S. Frigate!) Bay has caramel colored sand, it's a nice, wide, swathe with really pretty views of Nevis, so I'd recommend that one, too.

Just to repeat my reply to your other post, Turtle Beach is a public beach which anyone can use. The restaurant is expensive, but seems to get good reviews, probably mostly for it's amazing location and taseful decor. I can't say I was that impresed by the food or the service

I have been to many islands and to be honest with you, rate the beaches on St. Kitts the lowest. The island has many other things to offer, but really nice beaches are not its forte. Folks on the boards talked about how nice Turtle Beach and the other beaches on the South Peninsula were -- I was not impressed. I found Nisbet beach and Pinney's Beach on Nevis to be nicer. If great beaches are important to you, choose another island. For spectacular, my vote goes to Turks $ Caicos and St. John (I have not been to Anguilla but those probably rate spectacular as well). For very nice, cove-like beaches -- St. Croix, Antigua, Curacao. Barbados, Puerto Rico, St. Martin and St. Thomas beaches are okay. Aruba is like Myrtle Beach, in my opinion. St. Lucia dark sand and dark blue water but spectacular scenery.

I am going to st. Kitts in April on a cruise ship. We need to know beach to go to that is not far from the cruise ship, and one that is nice.

by the way we will be in St. Kitts, and Dominica as well, any one out there have any ideas on where we should go, and do you have any tour people you used while on the islands.

The closest "nice" beach to the cruise ship doc is Frigate Bay - about a 10 minute taxi ride. It's not too big but there are several beach bars/casual restaurants there. Five minutes further away is South Friars Beach which is quite a bit longer and is home to the famous Shipwreck Beach Bar. Many people think it is "nicer than Frigate Bay.
