Why is it that cruise lines never tell you that Charlotte Amalie is basically "shut down" on a Sunday and that any ads for places of business, whether stores or restuarants, do not tell you what days they are open and what the hours are?

I believe that Havensight Mall stores are open regular hours on Sunday when ships are in port. But you can always go to the beach. But it's true that many stores Downton do not open on Sunday. Still there's plenty do if you don't need to shop.
If there is a cruise ship in at Havensight, the stores there will be open. Stores in town will be open, but many with limited hours. Stores tend to be flexible, maybe that's why they don't have hours listed. In season, things will be open more than off season. Many restaurants are closed on Sunday.
