Does anybody know if it is possible to rent small planes in St. Martin / St. Barth? I've seen that some local companies offer transfer from St. Martin to St. Barth, but I sent them e-mails and did not have a feedback. I'm a pilot in Brazil of Cessnas 152 and I would like to have a landing in St. Barth. I hope somebody can help me with any information or at least where I can get this kind of information in the Island. Thanks a lot.

to my knowledge, you can charter a plane to take you, but to fly your own into St. Barth you're hard pressed. St. Barth is one of the hardest airports in the world to land, so unless you have your own plane I think you're out of luck. (PS my dad is a pilot, so i'm just writing this as a tourist.) Other hard airports are DCA and Maldives.
It IS possible to rent a plane here - provided of course you have an appropriate licence.
I know someone who did so, as he too particularly wanted to try his skill at landing on St Barts !
He did so successfully - at the second attempt - but though he flew the plane himself all the time, he was accompanied by another pilot who was fully experienced in flying around the local islands.
The plane was rented from the main St Maarten airport (Princess Juliana International), not from the smaller Airport de L'Esperance at Grand Case on the French side, but more than that I do not know.
Maybe if you get in touch with PJIA, or one of the handling agents there, such as Arrindell Aviation, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

You can also try air st maarten 543 1028.
Thanks a lot for all of your replies. I'm gonna call to PJIA and try any contact. Barbara1 thanks for all this companies phones, I haven't found any of these before.
Blamona and DavidSXM thanks for your tips about the adventure of a landing in St. Barth, but I forgot to tell that I just want to be a second pilot, I mean a co-pilot during this landing. As my teachers in the Aeronautical College taught me, it is not good to finish a landing in a bad a position such as this guy did in St. Barth... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z2o0acIlm4).
edsonrabelo2, did you ever find anyone to rent from? I'm doing the same trip in February! Thanks.
Can anyone tell me where they rented the airplane from? I'd like to do this in June.
Thanks!
