This year I'm planning my family's vacation as a teen and I really want my family to go on a different type of trip: tropical with cities and mountains and beaches and adventure that we all can enjoy. Last year we explored Yosemite and my siblings want to go to Glacier National Park this summer. I am attempting to find a island or country that provides the same freedoms national parks provide with beauty and wildlife and exploration because I want a change that satisfies everyone. Does anyone have experience with any places that fit this description?
Where can i find family fun with teenagers?

puerto rico should be a decent fit for your family.
el yunque is a national park & is beautiful. surfing on the west coast. san juan has loads of history. if you time your visit around the moon you can take a ferry to the tiny island of vieques for a night or 2 & do the bioluminescent bay tour, which is a unique and outstanding experience

i've been to glacier & it is spectacular, so if you "have" to go i think you'll enjoy it.
Although not an island, Costa Rica would be a fantastic choice. There are two coastlines...one on the Caribbean and one on the Pacific. There are old colonial towns to explore, cloud forests, rain forests, volcanoes, tons of wildlife and unlimited opportunities for both adventure and pampering.
To give some examples of what we did/saw on our trip 4 years ago:
White-water rafting
Hiking in the cloud forest
Hiking at Arenal Volcano in Fortuna
Zip lining and "Hanging Bridges"
Horseback riding
wave runners on the Pacific (saw loggerhead turtles)
swimming in beautiful resort pools
soaking in mineral hot springs
getting wonderful hot stone massages(for your mom!)
saw toucans, sloths, parrots, coatis, monkeys, etc
At the time we went, CR was a bargain, financially. I'm sure prices have gone up a bit, but it should still be a good deal.
You can't go wrong and it would be a fantastic adventure! One of our best trips ever!
