I've been researching Carribean islands and Central American countries on the quest for the perfect place the last few days and i've become frustrated. I would love to go on a tropical vacation with mountains, plenty of adventure, beaches and charming cities without a lot of tourists. I would be there for a week or more. This might be a lot to ask, but does anyone have suggestions?
where to go? please help.

I have no experience in any one of these countries but Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, or Puerto Rico might check some of those boxes off.
I am also particularly curious about any thoughts on the Dominican Republic. Trying to decide on a trip for February or whether to do another "staycation" in Bim.
Costa Rica is what popped into my mind too from your description. Or Belize. Certain places in Mexico.
I'm not a fan of the Dominican Republic myself. And the thing about 'mountains' is you need one of the larger sized islands. Jamaica fits except for the 'charming cities' part.
Punta Cana has the best beaches we've seen. Loved it there.
