Ok, good idea-will check it out. Im looking to see if anybody
suggests one airline over the other based on personal experiences. All will get me there and back, but often
one comes with a higher recommendation for one reason or another.

This website will allow you to see which airlines fly to STT from your area. Then you can go to the airline's website to buy the tickets. Try direct to STT, but also to San Juan (SJU). There are numerous puddle-jump flights SJU-STT.
If it makes a long day traveling, consider flying to MIA the evening before, stay inexpensively next to the airport @ hotel with shuttle, then fly out early AM. You'll be on the beach on St.John early afternoon. American flies NS from MIA-STT.

P.S. From Cleveland, Delta has an early morning to STT, with a stop in Atlanta, and US Air has one via Charlotte. Both get into STT around 2 PM.

Nowadays the major US based airlines are pretty much all the same - mediocre! They sell you seats on what amounts to a flying bus, operate on something that approximates a type of schedule, cram you in with little leg room (unless you are willing to pay extra for somewhat better seating) and if you are lucky they don't lose your luggage on route to your destination.

Point is the airlines have their good days and bad days and you never know what kind of a day you'll have until you actually travel. Today, on most US based airlines flying First or Business Class is what Economy used to be like 20+ years ago and flying in Economy today is just a way to get you from point A to Point B. Don't expect any frills.

Rather than pick a specific airline choose the itinerary that gets you from your home airport to your destination in the least amount of time with the least amount of connecting flights (if any) at a price you can live with. If at all possible, fly non-stop even if you have to pay a bit more as there's less chance of an untoward delay.
