We did this trip a couple of years ago. National Geographic/Linblad is excellent. Very knowledgeable guides, expedition leaders and crew. Various talks are scheduled and we thought all of them were interesting and informative. You're proably aware of the Wellness Specialist on board for massages etc. They also offered a morning exercise class on the deck. Good food and fellow passengers were pleasant and fun to be with. Note that this is not a luxury cruise but an expedition.
I've done several, and I'm booked for next spring. An absolutely wonderful and unmatched experience.
We have gone on two Lindblad expedition cruises. I can't imagine seeing SE Alaska any other way.
In addition to the excellent hikes and zodiac trips led by the naturalists, you will see nature cllose up.
We lost count of all the whales. The capatain would change course to find them. The food, service and travel companions were top notch. This cruise is more expensive than regular cruise lines with a less luxurious accomodation, but your experience will be much, much better. We compared notes with friends who were on a large cruise ship at the same time and they didn't see all the whales and birds that we watched daily.
