another cruise ship aground in Norway

last night (March 10) the CMV cruise ship Marco Polo ran aground in Norway departing from its Norway call port Sortland as part of its Norwegian Fjord cruise itinerary. The ship struck an underwater rock (no injured passengers or crew), then returned to the Sortland port for damage assessment and after some hull repairs was cleared to continue with its cruise. The Norwegian Coastal Administration is responsible for the Norway charts and they'll investigate the incident.

The Marco Polo ship cruise itinerary 2013/2014 program includes as destinations cruises from Tilbury (London, England) to Norway Fjords, Baltic tours to Scandinavia and Russia/St Petersburg (also departing from UK), British isles and around Britain tours from England (London and Newcastle) to call on ports in Scotland and Ireland, Canary cruises from UK and as late Fall specials - Transatlantic round-trip cruises to Caribbean from UK.
