Will it be a nightmare disimbarkation with such a large ship? Will finding a taxi to Miami for a 10:50 am flight out be possible?
Looks like it's 30 miles away. Can we be in a taxi by 8:30?
Arriving Ft Lauderdale on the Independence going to Miami airport doable?

What is listed time of disembarkation from ship? Finding a taxi is not the issue - disembarkation time and traffic between FLL and MIA may be as well.
I agree that this is a very tight connection and probably wouldn't advise it. I'd book a flight after noon.
But why is you post tagged "Mexican Riviera"? This is confusing.
It's tight, but it's doable. With an early flight, you can request early debark. If you're willing to live with a 10% chance you'll miss your flight, I say go for it.
We had the same problem last year and chose to disembark taking our own luggage with us. There was not much of a wait and we were able to line up, get a taxi and make our flight from Miami.
Perhaps, it is best to check with your cruise line.

As already stated, you need to consider being ready early and self disembaking. Hopefully, you are not mobility compromised and can handle all your own bags??
More important, is to understand FULLY, the limitations of your ticket, and what "value" it may/may not have if you miss the flight. Definately DO NOT expect to get out the same day if you miss it. And budget for an over night. On cruise days, Florida flights are full.
Thanks to all. We will disembark with our own luggage, take a taxi and hope for the best. The ship information says don't book a flight before 11, and our flight is 10:50.
Thanks to all who answered. We lucked out, we got off the ship carrying our own luggage, the taxi line moved fast, and we got to the airport with plenty of time. Luckily it was a Saturday, so traffic was light.
Aleta, how much is the cab fare from cruise terminal to Miami airport? The Fort Lauderdale airport is much closer and I was wondering why you choose Miami over Fort Lauderdale airport.
