I just got back from Bermuda on the Celebrity Summit and it wasn't what myself and my family expected.
Last Sunday, my family(me, mom, dad, my older brother, and grandma) along with my grandma's friend and my dad's friend headed to Cape Liberty to board the Summit. I shared an Inside room with my mom and grandma. It was the worst room. I slept on the sofa bed and it extended out in front of the other beds. My mom and grandma had to walk sideways to get to the lavatory. The ship was rocking so fiercely that a lot of people including myself and family got seasick and some fell due to the fierce rocking. No one got hurt. When we finally docked at King's Wharf, everybody was relieved. We got a 3 day pass for the ferries and buses that goes around the island. My family and I saw Hamilton and St. George. I liked St. George's historic area. It was the best with the village cryer and a music band playing and the shopping.
There were some good things on the Summit. My grandma liked Michael's Club where they played Name that Tune or just to listen to the pianist play. I liked doing Karaoke up in the Revelations Club. They only had it twice on the entire cruise. My parents liked the shows in the Theater.
When we were ready to leave the ship back at Cape Liberty, it was very disorganized. We had to report to the Rendevouz Lounge first and when our tag color/number was called, we had to take the middle elevator down to the first floor to get off. The problem was the attended called several colors/numbers all at once and everybody was forcing to get on the elevator or down the stairs. Down below, there was no line, and a lot of people were crowed all at once. Once out, we had to take shuttle buses to the main terminal. Then we had to get our luggage first, then go through customs. All the other cruises my family and I were on it was customs first then luggage. The porter who helped us was very nice and stayed until my dad got the special luggage dolly on our van. I don't know if we will consider traveling with Celebrity in the distant future. For now my next adventure will be in Colorado this summer.

Not really Celebrity's fault that the ocean was rough and the boat was rocking...Also, a small, crowded space is what you get when you book an inside cabin on any cruise ship.
I forgot to mention that the sea was rough and it's true. I don't know if the ship had any stablizers. The captain made announcements to be careful walking on the ship. It was my dad who booked the cruise and we were trying to save some money and we didn't expect how small/layout of the Inside room would be for the 3 of us.
You have learned some things from this, sunny515. 1.Spring in the north Atlantic is rough! It can be rough at any time of year. It is a big ocean out there. 2. Room sizes are listed in easily accessed information so your family should have known the size beforehand. Inside rooms are always the smallest. 3.You get what you pay for. 4.All modern cruise ships have stabilizers. How old are you? Young enough to learn, I trust, and maybe teach Dad? perhaps that is all your family could afford to take you all on this vacation.
I was on the Holland Amerida Veendam the same week cruising from NYC to Bermuda. Yes, it was one tough time at sea. When the captain announces that "anyone who has any seasickness medications, should take them now" and you haven't even left the dock...it's an "ah-ha" moment of spring cruising on the Atlantic. I'm an advisor to 1,800 senior travelers and now 2 for 2 on bad seas. Alas, I'm planning a River Cruise for our next venture!

There was no tendering. We were unable to make our scheduled stop in St. George (where we would have had to tender) and made our way directly to Hamilton where we docked along the main street in town. The Veendam is a smaller ship and fit nicely (and conviently) in port. My group of seniors found it easy to take the ferry to St. George or bus around the island.
For what it's worth, I've seen the Veendam in Hamilton almost every week so far - I don't think we've had 'conditions favorable for tendering' yet this season. Now, is that the ocean condition, or someone on the ship quietly figuring out how to get around the St. George's tendering??
As they explained it to us (after telling us that we'd be skipping St. George) the tender was going to take 45 minutes each way and so we'd be better off in Hamilton. As for our cruise, I'm sure the weather was an issue (as well?).
