Hello Antarctica fans!
I think I have read every report posted here & I am grateful to all who took the time to share their experiences and photos.
I have been trying for many years to arrange a trip to the Peninsula & (fingers crossed) this is my year.
Does anyone have any additional packing or gear advice to share? I am trying to pack as lightly as possible.
One particular area I would like to ask for more information is regarding kayaking. I have signed up for this option. Cruise company will supply a dry suit - but any tips on gear – or experiences to share? Would love to hear all.
So - anyone else signed up for the 2012-2013 cruise season??

We still think our 2007 voyage to the Antarctica was the best of all our trips. Wish we were going, but looks like it will be Greenland for us in 2013.
No first hand experience with kayaking, but try this link ... this couple kayaked with Quark and wrote extensively about their experience.

eenusa,
Thank you for sharing this link! It is really helpful for my kayak related questions and always fun to read a great report.
I am so impressed with people like yourself & this couple, who can share their trips so eloquently – and so generously!
Greenland will be wonderful. Are you taking a cruise? Hope you’ll share a report here on fodor’s forum.
Yes; we've deposited on back-to-back cruises that will start on the west coast, round the tip and take us up the east coast. I'll be blogging the trip, I'm sure ... will provide links here.
) In the meantime, if others enjoy and derive some benefit, so much the better.
Just be aware that the other couple has a bit of a business going on with their blog; they're honest about getting trips, clothes, what have you for review ... nothing wrong with that as long as they don't try to disguise it.
Our reports, on the other hand, are purely for our own benefit ... we'll re-read them and travel virtually when we are old and decrepit
